Kirkland Vodka Price, Sizes & Buying Guide (UPDATED 2024) (2024)

Jump to:

Quality in quantity is Costco’s game, and Kirkland brand is the name. Their vodka is no exception. If you’re looking for an updated Kirkland vodka price guide, we’ve got you covered.

With its two different styles, one being distilled 6 times in France, and the other being distilled 5 times in America, you can make sure your martini is exactly to your liking.

With vodka continuously being one of the most popular spirits in the United States, it’s no surprise that Costco figured out how to get a piece of the action.

With Kirkland’s Signature French Vodkaand Kirkland’s American Vodka, they have cornered a valuable piece of the vodka market.

Continuing in the Kirkland tradition, both spirits are surprisingly good, and they don’t break the bank either. Kirkland Signature French Vodka is often being directly compared to top-shelf vodkas while coming in at less than half the price of most.

For that reason, it has become a recurring item on many Americans’ grocery lists.

A Brief History of Kirkland Vodka

Kirkland Vodka Price, Sizes & Buying Guide (UPDATED 2024) (1)

While the origins of both varietals of Kirkland Vodka seem to be kept under lock and key, we do know a few things for certain. Kirkland’s French Vodka is sourced from the Gayant Distillery in France and, according to Vice, even uses the same water source.

This information was enough to convince quite a lot of people that Kirkland French Vodka and Grey Goose are actually… the same.

While Grey Goose may not directly handle the bottling and distribution for Costco, it certainly seems that Kirkland’s French Vodka comes from pretty much the exact same place.

Vodka is no stranger to controversy, however. There is a debate to this day as to where the spirit itself even originated. Some say Poland, most say Russia, and a select few believe it was Sweden.

So it’s no surprise that today we still don’t know exactly where Kirkland Vodka comes from. Fortunately, there is no debate on how vodka is defined. A clear, distilled alcoholic beverage made from neutral grains that is no less than 40% alcohol content.

So if your bottle says 70 proof, it’s not technically vodka. A common characteristic of the vodka distillation process is how many times it gets filtered. It is often considered that the more it is filtered, the “smoother” the final product will be.

Some brands refuse this logic and say that the natural minerals and elements found in the ingredients are considered a flavor component of the spirit and should therefore not be filtered out.

Produced from almost any starch that contains sugar, vodka has a wide range of ingredients it can be made with. The most common being rye and wheat, but some distilleries also use grapes, potatoes, corn, or even rice.

Kirkland Vodka Price, Variations, & Sizes

The two types of Kirkland Vodka are definitely different. Kirkland’s Signature French Vodka is the source of the controversy with its eerie similarities to Grey Goose, while Kirkland’s American Vodka is slightly cheaper and made in USA.

Kirkland Vodka Alternatives And Comparisons

We’ve talked about Grey Goose, but how does Kirkland Vodka stack up to some of the other well-known vodka brands? Well, according to the Huffington Post, as well as The New York Times there was a common winner in both blind taste tests.

Surprisingly, it was an old standby, Smirnoff. But there were some other close competitors as well.

With rye and wheat vodkas being the most popular by consumers, a few other brands have made themselves a place on the shelf by avoiding any type of gluten.

Grape distilled vodka as well as the increasingly popular, potato-based vodka have taken a significant bite out of the market as more people avoid gluten in their diet.

How To Drink Kirkland Vodka

Kirkland Vodka Price, Sizes & Buying Guide (UPDATED 2024) (4)

The best way to drink any vodka is certainly chilled. But one of the best things about vodka is its versatility. It’s a flexible spirit that lends itself to drinks across the spectrum of flavor.

Whether you prefer a Bloody Mary or an Espresso Martini, you’re going to want to reach for the same bottle to get your party started. If you prefer to let the flavor of the vodka shine through, then you absolutely can’t go wrong with a classic Martini.

There’s a reason it’s James Bond’s go-to co*cktail. The original Martini, known as a Vesper, includes 1 part gin, 1 part vodka, and 1 part dry vermouth.

But more commonly you’ll find your request for a martini at your local bar to be a 2:1 vodka and dry vermouth co*cktail served in a classic martini shell glass. Just make sure to tell them whether you prefer olives or a twist.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Kirkland Vodka the same as Grey Goose?

Short answer? No. Not really. But it seems like it is made very similarly.

It does come from the same region of Cognac, France. And Kirkland’s French Vodka apparently sources the water for the distillation process in the same location as Grey Goose, the Gensac Springs.

This particular rumor gained so much traction that even Grey Goose responded:

“No, Grey Goose Vodka does not produce nor privately label Kirkland vodka.” – Grey Goose’s Global Head of Education

2. Which Kirkland Vodka is the best?

Kirkland’s French Vodka seems to be markedly better than their American Vodka. With a more citrusy nose and a less astringent bite, the French spirit takes first place when compared to its American counterpart.

3. Is Kirkland Vodka gluten-free?

While this has been a controversial subject for quite some time, it can be said that Kirkland Vodka is gluten-free. According to gluten.org, gluten is a heavy compound that is not volatile, meaning during the heating of distillation, it sinks to the bottom.

Well, we only want the alcohol that is sitting nicely at the top. So we end up leaving that gluten stuff sitting in the bottom of the still where it belongs.

4. How much is Kirkland Vodka?

Depending on which Costco vodka you are buying, French or American, you’re still not going to have to worry too much about busting open your piggy bank.

Kirkland Signature French Vodka starts at $24.99 for a 1.75L, and you can grab Kirkland’s American Vodka for $16.99.
